Overview

Dear course participants, are you ready to transform any newspaper headline into an exciting IBL learning scenario? After several weeks of preparation, now you will be ready to take this challenge and create your own IBL scenario for climate change! Starting from ClimaTePD scenarios, now you’re ready to become a scenario designer, going deeper in structuring an inquiry process for Climate change in class.

Learning Objectives

The learning objectives of module C.1 are set as follows:

To learn how to design your own teaching scenario.

To reflect on your own IBL lessons and scenarios for introducing climate change in climate education.

To understand how to relate IBL and climate change to your own teaching activities and topics.

We will try to guide you during this process and step-by-step activities. At the end, we hope that you will find that IBL scenario can be easily applied to any meaningful problem/or topic. This way you will be able to:

Approach current real-world problems that are relevant to your students;

Help students to understand how to link the theory to practice and how to cope with the real problems.

This unit includes mainly autonomous work, in the form of readings / watching presentations and doing activities. There is one synchronous activity with other teachers taking this course, which will be face-to-face or online (check the activity description). As in previous units, at the end of the unit you will be required to do the evaluation.
